I Can’t be Your Friend

You’re a cool girl. But you try hard to be cool too. You care what people think even though you pretend to not care. I get that. We all struggle with trying to fit in. Looking for your pack is one of the rites of passages in life and yet sometimes you need to realize that this pack, the clique that you’re in,is not the one for you.

By giving you the freedom to find yourself, we have in turn lost you. Luckily, we realize that you need us. You haven’t told us, but you’re not old enough to be you yet. However,we’re not young enough to be your friend either. We can’t meet half way. We must lead, you must listen and that’s the way it is. I wish it could be like it was, but clearly that does not work.

Breaching trust is a messed up thing to do to someone but it doesn’t mean you can’t earn it back.

And so we pick ourselves up, we dust ourselves off and we go it together, in the same direction, as one.
